MODAPTO at BOC SPM2024!

The BOC Strategic Partner Meeting 2024  was an event hosted by BOC Group at the impressive premises of BOC in Schloss Schönbrunn, Vienna for its Customers to insights BOC Group strategy, on September 12th and 13th product innovations and roadmaps, with presentations and workshops from BOC and Customers from various industries and countries, where attended more than 600 industry experts connecting and exchanging experiences and best practices.

At the event, Mr. Damiano Falcioni, a researcher from the BOC Research Group, delivered a presentation titled ‘Modelling Digital Twin in the MODAPTO EU Project.’ He discussed the project’s goals and recent achievements, focusing on defining and representing production modularity concepts within the BOC meta-modelling environment and its customization for the MODAPTO initiative.

In particular, the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) standard has been implemented to represent MODAPTO Modules, and, to depict how such modules are used in the different production processes, it has been integrated with the BPMN compliant modelling environment of the BOC product ADONIS and demonstrated using as showcase a desktop robot arm emulating the ones in the MODAPTO Pilots.

This extension of functionalities of BOC products takes the name of Product Autonomy Framework, that is the BOC approach to create customisable business services and products. During this event it has been showcased for MODAPTO to:

  1. connect the BOC products with the other MODAPTO components
  2. customise the meta-model of the ADONIS product to integrate the AAS standard
  3. customise the look and feel of the BOC product to be inline with MODAPTO
  4. provide orchestration features connecting MODAPTO smart services

This event was a great source of feedbacks and discussions with experts from other domains, sharing their view on the MODAPTO approach that will be taken for sure into account for future improvements of project results.
