On November 28, 2024, industry leaders, policymakers, and representatives from Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) and EU-funded initiatives gathered in Brussels for the Shaping the Future of European Manufacturing: Growth and Innovation for SMEs conference. This high-profile event marked the final gathering of the ADMA TranS4MErs project, highlighting the critical role of innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation in shaping the future of manufacturing in Europe.
As a key participant, the Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC) represented MODAPTO, demonstrating how the project’s modular production solutions can help SMEs enhance flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability in their operations.
Supporting the Digital Transformation of SMEs
Throughout the conference, speakers emphasized the importance of integrating advanced manufacturing technologies and circular economy principles to enhance Europe’s industrial competitiveness. The challenges faced by SMEs—including digital adoption, financial constraints, and evolving market demands—were key topics of discussion. Also, the discussions focused on the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies and the sustainability aspects, revealing significant opportunities for SMEs to modernize and remain competitive
During the Partnership Building session, LIC introduced MODAPTO’s vision of flexible, reconfigurable production systems powered by interoperable digital twins, that could be a solution to many of the challenges mentioned in discussions. The project’s approach to modular production, interoperability, and digital twin technology offers SMEs a practical pathway to modernizing their manufacturing processes. Also, LIC’s presentation of MODAPTO resonated strongly with participants, many of whom expressed interest in offering their client SMEs to try those solutions to enhance their manufacturing capabilities.
Driving European Manufacturing Forward
As the ADMA TranS4MErs project concludes, the discussions and collaborations fostered at this event will continue to shape the digital transformation of European manufacturing. MODAPTO remains at the forefront of this evolution, offering practical, scalable solutions that help SMEs embrace next-generation manufacturing practices.
The MODAPTO consortium, alongside partners like LIC, is committed to supporting SMEs in navigating the shift toward more efficient, resilient, and sustainable production systems—helping them stay competitive in an ever-changing industrial landscape.
