In celebration of its 50th anniversary, FFT hosted a congress where the company showcased its expertise across various fields, including plant engineering, FFT products, and digitalisation. With a dedicated exhibition stand, FFT’s R&D department presented a range of research accomplishments, current projects, and future plans. Among the highlights was a commemorative magazine featuring various exhibits and designs, including a section dedicated to R&D initiatives. Within this, an article spotlighted MODAPTO, focusing on our project’s efforts on energy efficiency at the subsystem level, particularly in robotics and joining technologies.
As a leader in plant engineering, FFT drives innovation through research activities that make engineering of production plants faster, more efficient, and capable of detailed decision-making. The MODAPTO project, building on the success of previous initiatives like SPEAR, focuses on creating digital twin-based behavioural models and smart tools to optimise processes such as spot welding and roller hemming.
During the congress, Mr Tobias Hohmann, alongside R&D colleagues from Bremen and Hamburg, delivered a keynote address titled “R&D as a Foundation for Sustainable Innovation“. In his speech, he laid out FFT’s research roadmap for sustainable development, emphasising the pivotal role of MODAPTO in advancing energy-efficient manufacturing and supporting FFT’s vision for sustainable plant innovation.
